Our history
1983
We start life as the world-renowned Drumtech: a dedicated drums teaching centre (now known as BIMM Music Institute London)
2001
Brighton Institute of Modern Music (our very first college) opens
2008
BIMM Music Institute Bristol opens
2011
BIMM Music Institute Dublin opens (we also change our name to the British and Irish Modern Music Institute)
2013
BIMM Music Institute Manchester opens
2015
BIMM Music Institute Berlin opens
2017
BIMM Music Institute Birmingham opens
2019
BIMM Music Institute Hamburg opens
We’re granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers in the UK by an Order from the Privy Council*
*This means we can now write and award our own undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Following this achievement, we’ve launched a range of unique and innovative courses, designed in collaboration with the music industry to deliver the next generation of music education.
Today
BIMM Music Institute is part of a larger group of Creative Education spaces that include Performing Arts (Institute for Contemporary Theatre, Performers College, Northern Ballet School) and Film and TV (Screen and Film School). This allows our students to come together to collaborate with other creative professionals and gain invaluable real-world experience as they progress with their education.
